We've had a super term of netball. Everyone has improved in skills and fitness... Here are the girls celebrating!
P7 spent time inventing games for one another to play. They used a variety of equipment that instructor Chris provided for them, at the National Sports Centre in Largs.
Mrs Speirs addressed the Secondary school this afternoon. She commended the seniors on the good reports she has been recieving on their behavior and attitude towards one another. Mrs Speirs spoke on the importance of compassion and understanding.
P7 are working on the research for their personal projects. They are learning how to judge the usefulness and validity of a website and how to note the sites they use.
S1/2 have now finished their study of the novel Holes, which we found very interesting and enjoyable. We have moved on to a discursive writing unit. This morning, the class were hard at work analysing how journalists influence our opinion of a news story through their use of language. We talked about emotive language and the 'rule of three'.
After researching an American president of their choice, S1 and S2 were 'hot seated' by the class!
We've heard today from George Washington, Andrew Jackson, Herbert Hoover, Richard Nixon, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, JFK, Jimmy Carter, Teddy Roosevelt.
We also learnt the first verse of the Star-Spangled Banner.
Well done to everyone participated in our Netball Tournament on Saturday! A huge thank you to all mums, grans, aunties, sisters, staff, and friends of the school who came and played or cheered us on! Hannah's Gran brought her netball medal in, which she got playing for Renfrewshire when she was HAfter some fierce competition and lots of fun, we all trooped back to school for homemade soup, rolls and baking, courtesy of Mrs McKenzie-Smith. Well done to all the girls who have improved dramatically this term!
