S1 have been studying electricity. They have been setting up serial and parallel circuits and investigating how current flows through them.
Many staff, pupils, parents, family and friends enjoyed a fantastic time at our annual craft fayre this weekend. Some were running stalls and others were buying from the huge selection of items on offer - it was a very happy and successful day for all involved!
Pupils in transitus and S1 were rounding off their work on Matisse by designing their own piece of digital artwork to represent the "snail". They researched different ideas first before having a go at their own creations...
There was also some time to help with the Christmas festivities which was great fun! As S2 were leaving Glasgow, We bumped in to Kyle, one of our former pupils who left this year. Kyle is getting on great studying Biomedical a Sciences at Glasgow University. S2 spent the day in Glasgow with Miss Rukin! We have each taught the rest of the group about a particular building, statue or street in the city centre. It's been a really interesting day! First stop was a little breakfast drink at Patisserie Valerie (to tie in with ouR topic on the French Revolution!;) Aiden began our tour with a talk on the grisly past of Sauchiehall Street. Isabelle told us lots of really interesting information about the Willow Tea Rooms, created by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Mrs Cranston. The lady running the tea rooms invited us in and let us the Room de Luxe, and go all the way to the original Billiard Room on the top floor! Next, Blair introduced the Concert Hall and told us a little about the statue of Donald Dewar. Steven told us about the Tobacco Lord, Andrew Buchanan, after whom Buchanan Street is named. Then, we walked down to George Square. Miss Rukin did an overview of the Square's history from its early days as an outdoor slaughterhouse, to its current use as a cultural centre for the city. Ally told us about the Cenotaph. Sophie finished our tour with a superb account of the Battle of George Square, 1919. We had time to explore the Christmas market: An informative and fun day out! Well done S2 for your super research, very good communication, and excellent behaviour. Transitus and S1 have been continuing to look at Matisse's work in art. They have been trying to recreate his famous collage "The Snail"...
