We also made fruit kebabs this afternoon. We picked from blueberries, raspberries, banana, strawberries and grapes. We made a pattern using the fruit and threaded them carefully onto the stick. We then drew a picture of the kebab and decorated our plates. We ate the kebabs for our afternoon snack - yum yum! For topic this afternoon we were talking about what kind of food the lighthouse keeper could have if he was going to have a healthy lunch. We went to the lunch hall and made a fruit smoothie with Mrs Parkinson. We also used a juicing machine to get all the juice out of some apples. Everyone tired them both and some of us thought they were yummy! We ever let Miss Black and Mrs Crosby try some! Today after we had written our news we put all the jotters on the floor. Everyone got 1 vote and was asked to look for the news which had finger spaces between all the words, a full stop at the end and a coloured in picture. Everyone's news got at least 1 vote and Ellie got 3 votes. This is a great way for children to asses their own and others work in line with the outcomes for the lesson. Today we have been trying typing for the first time. We are using an app called Keydogoo to give us a lower case keyboard. We tried typing our own names and the name of the school. Today for maths we were using the Rekenrek equipment to help us with adding to 5. We wrote out all the sums in the story of 5 and used the equipment to check if we were right. We then tried a new app called "quick images" which has a Rekenrek on it and did quite well counting to 10 with it! We had a fantastic burns lunch courtesy of Mrs Parkinson. Alice's dad came in to pipe in the haggis wearing his full dress kilt. Mr Creighton said the address to the haggis and mrs Speirs said the Selkirk grace. We all really enjoyed our lunch! This is an award for pupil of the term. Given for a term of hard work and excellent progress. Well done Anna! |
