We had a super afternoon working with magnets. There were four groups that everyone rotated round. One group made a sling to hold a magnet and then held it above a compass to see what happened and if the north of the magnet was correctly marked.
Another group had to collect a number of objects from around the class and predict whether or not it was magnetic. They then had to see if their predictions were correct.
One group went round the school and found magnetic things to take pictures of.
The fourth group worked with magnetic marbles and rings, experimenting with the north and south sides to see how different positions changed whether the magnets attracted or repelled.
