We read to the end of Chapter 5 in Bridge to Terabithia today. We learned about Janice Avery and how she bullied so many of the children in the school. We had a great discussion on Bullying. In pairs the children discussed what a person could do to stop a bully. They came up with some excellent ideas. Every group came up the idea of telling somebody else. We discussed this at length in the class and the children were encouraged to tell an adult or teacher is they were upset of worried about anything.
Although the children identified that bullying wasn't really an issue in the school we did recognise that sometimes people could do unkind things. We discussed how we could all be kind and how you should treat others as you would like to be treated.
Well done P5/6. A very mature discussion.
The children had to complete a traditional Chinese story about a girl who was was fotcrd to marry a mean old man instead of the boy she wished to marry.
We used the Writing Mountain to help plan the story. The Build Up was already given to us we we had to complete the Climax and the Resolution.
We planned our stories using an app called Moodboard and we word processed our stories using Pages.
I will upload some of their stories soon.
The class learned how to use the Multiplication Grid today to work out multiplication calculation. The grid used partitioning which the children have been using to work out addition and subtraction calculations.
We will do plenty of work on it in class before I send any work home for them to do.
The children have been asked to complete a piece of homework on their iPads for Friday.
They have been asked to produce a piece of work about their best friend. It is completely up to them who they do this. They can use any App that they wish to.
This is their first ever piece of iPad homework and I can't wait to see what they come up with.
The children ran around Ardgowan Square for the first time this morning. well done. Next time we will be running around it twice.
