Dear Parents
Welcome to Primary 5/6! I hope that you find this information helpful. If anything is unclear please don't hesitate to contact me at owen@cedars.inverclyde.sch.uk or contact the school on 01475 723905
Lunches
Lunch may be brought into school or bought from Mrs Parkinson - prices range from 50p for drinks and snacks to £1.50 for panninis and hot food. Mrs Parkinson runs an account system so if you don’t want to send cash in with your child they can “go in the book” and this will be billed to you on a termly basis. Again, please let me know if you would like this to happen.
We no longer have a microwave available for children to use so please don’t send in food to be reheated. We are unable to provide this for health and safety reasons.
Trips
Primary 5/6 will be starting skiing lessons at Bellahouston Ski Centre on Monday 24th August. The children will be leaving a 12:15 so please bring a packed lunch in on Mondays. Children should wear suitable clothing and gloves (remember that it is still warm outside so don't wear too many thick layers).
PE
The children will be going to Sports Scotland in Largs to do gymnastics every Friday for PE. The first session will start on Friday 21st August. Please wear trip uniform and bring a bottle of water. You may bring shorts with you as it can get quite hot.
Homework
Homework will be given Monday to Thursday. On Thursday 20th August the children will be given some spelling words. They should copy these words 3 times and write a sentence for each word. Reading books will be sent home on Monday 24th August.
Information Evening
There will be an information evening in school on Monday 24 August at 7pm. This is run by Mrs Speirs and will involve an overview of the school year ahead and various practical arrangements.
Best wishes,
Mr Atkinson
