S3 enjoyed visiting the local polling station, in Ardgowan Tennis Club opposite the school. We spoke with the polling officials and had a look around. Sophie and Isabelle are checking off each voter on the register and handing out ballot papers. The boys are making sure votes are secret- by ensuring the booths are used, papers folded in half and places in the ballot box. Of course, our Sixth years will all be voting in the national referendum today. S3 have voted, in the secret ballot booths built by Transitis yesterday. S2 are running the referendum. Having researched adaptations S4 went on to look at the natural selection. They drew their own mouse then choose various features for their mouse (hair length, teeth numbers, coat colour etc). They then went on to see if the features they had selected would ensure the survival of their mouse. All of them survived except poor Aimee's mouse as she had chosen to put the eyes of her mouse in a central position - poor thing it couldn't spot predators coming at it form the side and was eaten. That's survival of the fittest for you! |
