In English, S3 are studying the film The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. We have been looking at mise-en-scene, which is the arrangement of scenery, props and actors in a shot/scene. After discussing a shot from the opening of the film, we created our own scenes using props and costumes borrowed from the Drama department. Here are the results:
This scene represents a scene of murder set in the past. Aimee was sporting a silky scarf to indicate her wealth and Johnny is a statue, revealing the grandness of the house! The mood is one of tension and horror- even the statue looks perturbed by the events!
The skull and pirate hat reveal this is a fight between pirates. Brett is doing a particularly good job of creating a mood of violence by his facial expression and stance!
