Biodiversity in crisis

S5 have been looking at biodiversity and making a crisis map showing endangered species, pollution, deforestation, invasive species, extinctions etc. They also brainstormed their thoughts on protected marine zones ( no take zones) using the de Bono 6 thinking hats.

Election Results

Mrs Speirs announced the results of the school elections for Head Boy and Head Girl. Mete Mercan is Head boy, Aimee Jewell is head girl - congratulations to both. 

In addition Courtney Parkinson and Fraser McCuaig are heads of Rankin, Toby Neilson and Kira McArthy are heads of Ardgowan and Lyle Horne and Lizzie Brayshaw are heads of Lyle. All these pupils will form the basis of the School Council for 2015 - 16. There will also be further vote on Monday to elect representatives from middle school to join them on the school council.

S3 Nitrogen Cycle

S3 were playing the Nitrogen Cycle game today. They are using a "passport sheet" to visit various nitrogen "reservoirs".  They have watched a video at home about the cycle and they will explain it in class tomorrow.

S5 have been learning about animal behaviour. Today they decided from a group of primate studies at Edinburgh zoo the social ranking of various chimpanzees.
